Barista Espresso Machine Review
Reasonably priced, heavy and solid, the Starbucks Barista Home Espresso Machine is ideal for those who
are not interested in extreme automation features and just want a good, reliable espresso maker.
If you are looking for an espresso machine that is reasonably priced, heavy and solid just as an authentic
quality piece of workmanship, free from all those auto-things that usually make the price exponentially grow
to work perfectly just as somethig gum up, break or insist some internal plastic piece is out of place, your
search is over, as the Barista Home Espresso Machine is really what you need.
The Barista Home Espresso Machine is actually a Starbucks rebranded espresso machine from Saeco, whose real name is
“Via Venezia Espresso Machine”. This machine is capable to brew one or two cups of espresso simultaneously
and comes equipped with a moveable steam and hot water wand. The controls situated in the front of the
machine are easily recognizable. This is a household only espresso machine: the manual expressly advise
against using it for commecial purposes. As for every espresso machine, it is not a good idea to use it
before having read and completely understood the instructions given in the user’s manual.
We can say that for the price this is actually an amazing espresso maker. Maybe is not as good as some
higher-end household machines as, for example, the Rancilio Silvia, but, if you think that you can have it
for half the price of the Silvia you will agree that this machine is even better. It is solid build an
makes great cups of espresso with plenty of crema. It foams great and is not temperamental. Also, the
pressurized portafilter does not need to be tamped. People that have used it for years agree in saying that
it is very hard to go wrong with the Barista Espresso Machine!
It seems that most people prefer the Black Graphite instead of the Stainless Steel model, because it is
cheaper and also looks nicer.
We recommend that you take special care in using and cleaning the frother wand (see user manual for this) as
some users have experienced metal flakes coming out of the wand during priming and cleaning. This is a
potentially serious safety issue and is probably due to uncorrect use and cleaning.
